Recently, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau levelled a $1.7 billion penalty against Wells Fargo, and ordered Wells Fargo agreed to pay $2 billion to affected consumers because it misapplied loan payments, wrongfully foreclosed on homes, illegally possessed vehicles, incorrectly assessed fees, and interest, charged suprise overdraft fees, among other things.
